What a privilege and honor to have been elected by you, the citizens of Satsuma, to represent our City as one of your City Council Members. I am looking forward to continuing working with Mayor Stewart and the other members of the Council over the next three years.
During the November 2008 Organizational Council meeting Mayor Stewart Committee and as a liaison with the Administration Department. I was also given the honor of being appointed as a Council Representative to the Planning Board.
As far as the City's finances are concerned it would be impossible for Satsuma to remain unaffected by the struggling economy. We are certainly feeling the impacts. However, there is a silver lining for us. Despite the economy, as of May , the city remains on target with our budget. Revenues remain steady.
When it comes to City's administration, we all are very fortunate to have the team we have at City Hall. I would like to thank each of them for all they have done, and continue to do, to get me up to speed with the ins and outs of the workings of the City. Vicki, Eva, Bridgett, and Edith, I thank you for all you do.
The City has a future workload that requires consistent planning, which will include: identifying growth opportunities, needed work, making timetables for funding, prioritizing, using resources wisely, and setting a plan of action to ensure that those projects are finalized. I truly look forward to being a part of this process. I can hardly wait to see what the next three years brings for our City.
In closing, let me challenge you to get plugged into your City, there are so many opportunities to get involved. I invite you to join us during our Council Meetings which are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M.
